Universal Studios Singapore Part 1

Last week, I read the news about the opening of the most awaited theme park here in Singapore.

Universal Studios Singapore will open it’s doors to the public on the first quarter of 2010. It will feature 24 rides and attractions, 18 of which will be making their worldwide premiers in Singapore.

The Universal Studios’ one—day pass on a weekday will cost S$66 for an adult and S$48 for a child, with seniors enjoying a special rate of S$32. The pass will cost S$72, S$52 and S$36 respectively for visits on weekends and public holidays. Not bad for a great theme park entrance right?

The theme park has 7 zones or areas. The first area is Hollywood Boulevard. This area features Pantages Hollywood Theater which will be a venue for future Broadway Musicals. Also in this area are different restos like Mel’s Drive-in which serves delicious burgers, fries, onion rings and milk shakes.

Next zone will be the Madagascar Zone. This area will have a complete replica of the boat where Alex, Marty, Melman and Gloria rode in the movie. This boat is for the “A Crate Adventure” ride. This will also have a kiddie ride called “King Julien’s Beach Party -Go-Round” which is a grand carousel.
The Next zone is the Far Far Away zone. This zone houses the famous Shrek Castle and the “Shrek 4D Adventure” ride. Thiszone also has a resto named “Goldilocks” which serves fried chicken with gravy and fish and chips. Here is a picture of the Shrek Castle.
Zone 4 is the most exciting zone for me. It’s the Lost World zone which has the most rides among the other zones. It has the “WaterWorld” area that will have a show of stunts and thrilling action based on the movie. It also has the “Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure” that is the ride that I will surely Q in.  This zone also has the Discovery Foodcourt where everyone can try different food just in one place.
Stay tuned for my next blog post for the rest of the zones of the soon to open Universal Studios Singapore!

Singapore Grand Prix Experience

Doms and I spent our Friday night and whole Saturday being part of one of the most awesome experience that I had here in Singapore. The 2009 Singapore Forumula 1 Grand Prix.

We were lucky to have FREE tickets from Doms’ office. I am very thankful that even me, Doms’ girlfriend, had perks from his company. We were really excited to be part of the F1 night race here in Singapore. In tracks held in other countries, the races are always done in the mornings. Singapore is so proud to have the power, energy, man power and of course, funds, to support and light up the racing track across the city for the F1 night race.

Check out how lighted the singapore track is:

Everyone was so amazed at how the track was lighted. Even I can’t imagine how rich the Singapore goverment is for affording all these lights and generators.

Amidst all the glitz and lights of the race, Doms and I were there.

Our seats are located in the most beautiful location of the race. Just in front of us are the pit stands of the following teams:

  • Maclaren- Mercedes -Vodafone: Yes, I can see Lewis Hamilton walking around the pit before the race.
  • Ferrari: Kimi R’s pit was always busy. And yes, we can see it too!

We were really ecstatic and hyped up when we saw our seats. We were meters away from the finish line and just in front of us are the pits of the famous racers.

I didn’t know the racers at first. Good thing that even when Doms was busy taking pictures, he stills manages to explain to me the racers name and some background of the teams.

He even told me the stats and the names of the other racers. He was rooting for team Brawn GP and main racer Jenson Button to win the Singapore track but, Lewis Hamilton (with gf Nicole s of PSD), got the race. Doms told me not to worry because even if Hamilton won, Brawn GP still has higher points, so even if Jenson did not win here, his stats are still high enoug to win the world championship held in Abu Dhabi.

Discovering Ion Orchard

Last Saturday, Doms and I went out and discovered the newly opened mall along Orchard Road called Ion Orchard. Literally, the mall is so big! It houses different kinds of restos and high-end stores. There were a lot of people queued in those restos, including Burger King and the donut store that I have been craving for, Dunkin Donuts. It was really a fun experience for me and Doms.

The stores that we checked out are:

  • Shue Uemura (c’mom, i’ve been wanting to buy a body oil there)
  • Crumpler
  • Epic Center (checked out the MacBook I’m gonna buy this September)
  • Fossil (Doms and I took a mental note on which watch are we going to buy already)
  • North Face (Doms’ fave gear store)
