What Happened in KL: Breadcrumbs

Our trip to KL last 2 July to 4 July started out rough but turned out to be OK towards the end. I will be posting here in my blog everything, including my rating and recommendation about our recent trip as well as useful information that we learned.

Coach Travel

Transtar Travel

Rating: 3.9

Pocket Damage (SGD): 168

Doms and I liked the idea of riding a first class coach for our SIN-KUL-SIN trip. So, I searched and searched for the best coach to book. I came across Transtar Travel and found that they have nice and clean buses. For our SIN_KUL trip, we got the Z-Class coach. It was OK. It was a 30-seater bus with confortable chairs. The aircon was nice and there were no relative incident about it that I can remember. What I’d like to emphasize more is our bus ride from KUL-SIN.

We got the First Class Soletaire Coach from Transtar for this trip. It was my first time to ride such a comfortable bus! It only rides 18 passengers and it serves food. The coach bus has an “attendant” that seeks to passngers. The comfortable chair has a built-in massager, TV with lots of movies including Harry Potter, The Hangover, GI Joe etc and game console. I highly recommende this bus type than the other. But, the only thing that I don;t like about our bus ride were the stop-overs or toilet break areas. The bus stops at remote and “province like” toilets that are smelly and flooded. I really hope that next time, they stop in proper toilets so that tourist wouldn’t be afraid to go to the toilet.

Hotel Accomodation

Tune Hotel Downtown KL

Rating: 4

Pocket Damage (SGD): 115

Tune Hotel was recommended by Nicole. Ever since we started planning for the KL trip, Tune hotel was our default hotel accomodation. It was a nice hotel with a 24-hour check-in policy. I booked for 3 days and 2 nights even if our first day started at 5:30am instead of the usual 2:00 check0in time. The receptionist were friendly and they allowed to leave our things when we checked-out. The only thing that I hated about this hotel was at the middle of the night, our aircon stopped and electricity was cut-off. The reason is because the aircon is a added pay service. You can opt to have or not to have aircon in your room. Of course we got the one with aircon. I think there was a conflict in the data entered in our key card. It was easily resolved.

In my next posts, I will be blogging about the places we’ve been and the food that we ate and the wonderful experience that we had.

Planning Our KL Trip, My Style

Hahaha, as if my style is soo efficient.

Well, I am the type of person who is very visual. So, most of the things that I do, I want to see with my own eyes the progress that I did. For example, in work, I always have a checklist that I write in the morning. As I progress through the day, I check the stuff that I’ve done. I feel pleased when I see that I’ve checked my target goals for the day.

In planning travels, I always write important information about the travel in a sheet of paper as my reference. I call this piece of paper my “tickler” file. I also schedule the activities of the travel and as much as possible, map out our way to our intended places to visit.

Now that our KL trip is fast approaching, I am sharing to everyone my KL tickler file:

KL, Here We Go!

I am very excited already!

Doms and I will be spending the coming weekend in KL! Of course aside from the fact that we both wanted to go to KL and explore the city, it is also my birthday on the 4th of July. So, it’s also my birthday celebration cum vacation.

We already have our itinerary and I’m excited because one of the goals of our KL trip is to have a DIY mini-prenup pictorial.

I really hope that we can accomplish our plans for the pictorial this time.

Here is our target itinerary:

Thinking About Spending Labor Day in KL

Doms and I are thinking of spending Labor Day in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It’s a good thing we have a friend living there and we can spend the nights there.

I was searching the net for places to go and places to visit. But, first of all, we have to figure out what means of transportation are we taking in going there. It’s either we are going to ride the plane, the bus or the train. The train is out of the picture because aside from the fact that it’s not comfortable, the travel time sums up to 8 hours. If we ride the plane, the international airport of Malaysia is 1 hour away from KL and the place of my friend. So, we are left with riding the bus.

I was searching for Singapore-KL trips and I found the following bus lines that I think will be our choices:

  • Grassland Express = One way ticket costs 45sgd and we need to go to Boon Lay for the treminal
  • First Coach and Travel = This costs 55sgd/head two-way ticket already from Novena to Bangsar. Each chair has a built in TV set for movies and music. I think this is one of our top choices
  • Aeroline = Two-way ticket costs 98sgd/head comes with spacious seats and TV sets as well. The only difference is that the bus ride comes with food and cabin crew memebers to assist the passengers. I like this. If we have extra funds, we will choose this bus line.
  • Transnasional
  • Transtar
  • Konsortium Bas Ekspres

For the trip itself, I made a list of all the things that I want to do:

  • Go to Genting Theme Park http://www.genting.com.my/en/themepark/
  • Go to Sunway Lagoon http://www.sunway.com.my/lagoon/
  • Take unlimited “photo-ops” with the Petronas Tower
  • Go to Suria KLCC to buy cheap VNC shoes
  • Ride the HOHO bus or Hop On Hop Off  tour bus for a tour of the city
  • Go to Aquarias
  • KL Sentral
  • Bukit Bintang Shopping
  • Try Kaya Toast
  • Buy food

I really wish we have more time in this trip. I will update you guys on the development of our trip.
