Of Feeding Bottles and Everything Else

I’ve been very busy with the “not so important” stuff that we need to buy for baby that I forgot all about feeding bottles. I have 3 choices of feeding bottles that I like to research on. First will be Tommee Tippee, then Avent then Pigeon.

I got interested with Tommee Tippee because they have a tag line of “Closer to nature”. Why? Their nipples and bottles are shaped like a mother’s breast so switching from breast feeding to bottle will not confuse the baby.

I’m so addicted to Tommee Tippee! I like the shape of the bottle, which reviewers say that has a nice grip on Mommies and baby. I like the grey colored bottles because they look so manly and cute! I’ll buy the Tommee Tippee type of bottle like this:

There are many types but I’ll make sure to get the closure to nature, anti-colic, BPA free for babies with excessive spit-up, fussiness and gas.

If I get the whole Tommee Tippee Closure to Nature range including electric steam sterilizer and breast pump, I’ll buy two 5 oz bottles and, two 9 oz bottles and 2 11 oz bottles. Total of 6 bottles which is the ideal number of feeding bottles.

Next stop are Avent bottles. Avent is like the default bottles for babies. Every where I look, I see babies and Moms carrying the whole range of Avent bottles and pacifiers and even bibs and teether. I want to try these bottles too because I want to know what the fuss is about.

Avent has a wide range of feeding bottles too. They have cute designs and colors as well but they look normal. I’ll probably buy two 9 oz bottles from Avent and it will be this type below, the PES bottles for fussing babies and is also anti-colic.

Next group of bottles are Pigeon feeding bottles. There are a lot of good feedback for Pigeon Bottles and they are quite cheap here in Singapore. I’ll probably buy 2 bottles of these traditional brand. They have smaller nipples for new born so I like that. I’ll probably buy one 9 oz bottle just for testing.

If we have extra budget, I’ll also try and buy a Medela feeding bottle and a Dr. Browns bottle just to see what it does. Each bottle costs are high and I want to know why they are expensive.

Baby Bath Care and Grooming Essentials

Like what I said in my previous posts, I’m slowly compiling the things that we need to buy for Baby Pork. Now, I’m focusing on the toiletries and bath essentials that we will need.

I read in one blog that among all the other toiletries and bath care to buy, the most essential and most important are:

  • Alcohol or Hand Sanitizers
  • Gentle Facial Tissues
  • Baby Wipes

I’m planning to buy a whole bunch of hand sanitizers and put it in different places in our house so that it can be accessible. Alcohol or hand sanitizers are important especially if you are handling Baby or anything related to him. For gentle facial tissues and baby wipes, these can be used in wiping anything the baby gets in contact with like toys, rattles etc.

Bath and Skin Care

I’m planning to buy different types of baby body wash, oils and diaper rash cream for Baby Pork. Here are the stuff that we’re planning to buy:

  • Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser – I read in one forum that they advice Moms to use Cetaphil for baby bathing because it’s gentle and not harmful.
  • Cetahpil Lotion
  • Lactacyd Blue – I’m planning to buy this in Manila. They said this can be used in new borns too.
  • Aveeno Baby Wash and Shampoo – I read that this baby wash and shampoo smells good. I’m not sure if these are available in SG.
  • Aveeno Baby Lotion
  • Mustela Dermo-Cleansing Body Wash
  • Mustela Cleansing Milk – For face and diaper area
  • Burt’s Bees Baby Bee Shampoo and Wash
  • Burt’s Bees Diaper Ointment – The lip balm worked for my chapped lips so I’m hoping it will work on diaper rash.
  • California Baby Wash and Shampoo Cendula
  • Baby Oil
  • Baby Colgne

Accessories

  • Baby Bath Towel with Hood
  • Baby Wash Cloth
  • Bath tub (After 2 to 3 weeks)
  • Baby Q Tips
  • Cotton Balls

Grooming

  • Baby Brush
  • Baby Nail Clipper

Apothecary

  • Thermometer
  • Nasal Aspirator
  • Humidifier

Hay! Ang dami pala! But I’m sure we will need most of these stuff. Better save na for all of these!

At Home With Pelvic and Hip Pain

I am on MC today. Yes, MC is SL here in Singapore. Why?

Yesterday afternoon, I felt a stretching pain in my thigh when I was walking to my bus stop. The pain radiated more at night in my leg. So, I got worried. Doms was worried too. The pain didn’t stop when I was sleeping and moving around the bed. So this morning, Doms told just to stay at home and rest.

I read about it online and everything says the same.

So, I went to the GP this morning and that was what she said. She gave me this ointment to rub my thigh 3 times a day. I was advised to do stretching and less cross legs when seated.

Celebrating Mother’s Day at Chili’s RWS

Doms and I love to celebrate the tiniest event or milestone in our lives. Naturally, we were bound to do something during Mother’s Day.

We were thinking of eating somewhere in VivoCity because I wanted to check the “baby” stores there. Our first choice was Carnivore All-Meat Buffet. The food was enticing but we didn’t like that much for that night and the price per person was so steep.

So, we decided to eat at Chili’s in Resorts World Sentosa.

Our appetizer of Fried Cheese (10SGD) came in first .It was so good! Then my Ribs and Chicken Rack (35 SGD) came in. This meal was good for sharing but Doms still ordered separately. He ordered Western something burger (23 SGD). It wsa so huge with large strips of bacon and fries. I didn’t try the burger because it looked so filling but sure ate the fries!

Doms didn’t have the problem of finishing his food. He has issues with wasted food.

After our great dinner, we went back to VivoCity to do some baby stuff window shopping. Yup! That’s our new hobby now! Then, we ate dessert at Awfully Chocolate. Now I know the reason why I got a migraine that night!

Anyway, it was a fun-filled night spent bonding with Doms. It was also a great way to celebrate Mother’s Day!
