I must say, my first try in making this dish popularized by my colleague, Efren, was “quite” good.

As you can see in the picture below, the cake (yes, it’s a cake alright!), turned out to be OK except for being too dry! The taste was good, the pineapple was sweet enough but the sponge cake was too dry. Maybe because I left out putting oil and butter.

I still have half of my Optima Instant Sponge Cake mix and I will try to make another cake in the coming holiday.
