Guest Book Layout

I am so happy with our guest book layout! Not only is it beautiful, it was extra special because Doms was the one who designed it.

We liked our initial guest book layout from Vignette but we were thinking of another concept and design so I asked Vignette if it’s OK if we create our own design. They agreed! So Doms is tasked to create and design our guest book.

I am so proud of Doms! He created our guest book for 2 nights only and it turned out to be amazing! He sacrificed his PS3 and Star Craft II hours and poured his attention to our guest book. Thanks baby!

So, I’m sharing our guest book design here. I hope you like it!

Year End List Series

2010 is about to end and a new year is about to unfold in a few days. What better way to cap 2010 than to remember wonderful movies, songs, events, television shows and other stuff that have been influencial to us.

So, I decided to create a Year End List Series which lists down all the the things that have been influencial to me in the past year. I haven’t decided which list to start but the easiest one is the movie list. So, in my next blogs, I will be posting my Year End Lists.

Christmas 2010

Our Christmas celebration was not like the usual Christmas that we used to have in Manila. It was a big change for Doms and I because we are used to grand celebrations during the holdiays. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the holidays very much.

December here in Singapore came in very fast. As early as December 4, 2010, Doms and I were attending Christmas Party celebrations already. We were happy because even if we were far from Manila, our Filipino friends and colleagues makes the gap nearer.

December 16 came and Doms and I started attending the traditional Simbang Gabi here in Singapore. Too bad we were not able to complete the Simbang Gabi. But, we were happy to be surrounded by other Filipinos during the 4 massess that we attended.

Christmas Eve came and Doms and I have half-day work. So, we went to work first then by lunch, we were at home already. I made fruit salad and bought fruits in preparation for our Noche Buena.

We attended the Christmas Cantata in Christ the King Church in Ang Mo Kio at around 8:30 pm. I loved the singing and the stories that took place in the Christmas Cantata. It felt more like Christmas at that time. Right after the cantata, the midnight mass took place.

For our Noche Buena Dinner, we just ordered out and ate everything at home. We thought of eating out but restaurants were jam-packed. We enjoyed our simple dinner. We had a pictorial session after dinner beside the tree to show our family back in Manila.

We also had a mini exchange gift to commemorate the event. I got an iPad from Doms and I bought him the lens that he wanted.

My gift from Doms, apple iPad. Thanks Baby!

My gift to Doms, I forgot what lens this is :)

The actual Christmas day came and we went to Orchard for a walk. It was full of people! But at least we get to feel Christmas there because it has a lot decorations and lights.

That evening, Doms friends came to have Christmas dinner with us. It was nice meeting friends during the holidays and we were stuffed with all the food that we ate!

This sums up our holidays for 2010. New Year is fast appraoching and I’m sure it will be as equally fun as Christmas!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to All!

Just Around the Corner

Christmas is just around the corner and I am really very excited about it. Ever since I was a kid, I loved Christmas so much that weeks before Christmas day, I experience sleepless nights thinking about what will happen on that day or what gifts I will get. Not to mention imagining the food that I will get to eat and the sweets that I will gobble up. Now that I am 27 years old, I still get the same exciting feeling.

My first Christmas away from home was in the year 2008. I spent it here in Singapore. Good thing my brother L.A. flew all the way here to spend that day with me. Our Noche Buena dinner consisted of Mega Mac Meal and Chicken Nuggets from Mcdonalds. It was hilarious! I missed all the events that my family and I have during that Christmas but I particularly miss Doms, who was still in Manila at that time.

Christmas 2009, I was lucky enough to spend the holidays in Manila. I was sad at the same time because Doms, who was already working here in Singapore, will be left alone during the holidays. So, that was the 2nd year that Doms and I were apart during the holidays.

Posing in the most famous corner of our house, hehe!

Now, for the upcoming holidays for 2010, Doms and I will be together to celebrate it. I’ve been very busy thinking of what to cook for our Noche Buena dinner. I bought “tsokolate” from Manila the last time we went home and we will be feasting on that plus sliced bread, cheese and the “hamon de bola” which I also bought in Manila. We are planning to hear mass at around 8:00 pm in Christ the King AMK then go to Orhard to have some picture taking moments with the lights. I was able to have my picture taken in some Christmas tree decors here in SG.

I’ve received gifts from my friends and officemates and I am very thankful that they are keeping the Christmas spirit alive.

I was also able to give-away my presents to my colleagues and friends and I am sure that one way or another, they appreciated our gifts to them.

I am so excited about Christmas mainly because I love this occassion and becuase Doms and I will celebrate it together. Until my next Christmas post!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New to all!

24 Days to Go!

It’s exactly 24 days to go before our wedding and I’ve been very busy with work and the wedding preps that I totally forgot to update our wedding blog. So, now that I have some free time in my hands, I’m abusing it by updating our accomplishments for the wedding.

Let’s start with our additional guest give-aways. We have our main give-away which is the photobooth but my dad suggested that we have a separate give-away for our older guests, like my lola, who has problems walking already. So, Doms and I searched endlessly for an additional guest give away and I emailed each one of them and inqired.

I was able to find Swell Sweets online. Swell Sweets is owned and managed by Gel Colet. Her specialty is baking and her creations are wonderful! I saw her cookie designs and I instanly fell in love with it! She gave us a quote and it was right for our budget so we got her to make our cookie give-aways.

Our cookie design is like this, see image below, but of course the main color is purple!

I initially wanted to use our cookie give-away as our place card holders, where the table number of each guest is printed, but we haven’t finalized it yet. Doms will be making the Thank You card taht will go along with our cookie give-away. I’m sure it will look great!

Next stop is our wedding ring. Doms and I were not very worried about finding a wedding ring because they are hundreds of jewelry stores here in Singapore and we see them everywhere. So, we just let time pass by and decided to buy the ring in December. This is where we went wrong.

Looking for a wedding ring is as hard as looking for needle in a haystack! Everything matters in searching for a ring. From how it looks like in our finger to how it goes along with my engagement ring. We really underestimated the power of searching for the “right” wedding ring.

Then we saw this wedding band in Taka, ION Orchard. Shempre, epal yung engaement ring ko kase sinama ko sa picture :)

We tried it on and we instantly loved it! The rings were thick just like what Doms wanted. The bands are made of 18K White Gold with a .3 CT diamond on each ring. What’s best is we had a great deal and discount for the rings.

For Doms’ wedding band the price was 1,350 sgd (45,562 php) and was discounted to 950 sgd (32,062 php) while my ring costs 950 sgd (31,9884 php) to 800 sgd (27,000 php). We were computing our savings and we immediately bought it because it’s really value for money.

Next stop, Doms and I need to search for our wedding shoes and he needs to buy his belt, his inner shirt for his barong and his perfume.

So that’s it for now! Until our next wedding accomplishment :)
