Bible Sharing 22 May 09: Praise

woman_praising

Last Friday, our friend Aki Tolentino invited us to a bible sharing in Pasir Ris. Actually, Aki was inviting us to join this bibile sharing ever since before but Doms and I were not that very keen in attending because the location was far and we didn’t know anybody. It’s a good thing, we decided to come. The people in the bible sharing were very nice and welcoming.

When we arrived there, the first thing that we did was eat! The group was starting dinner and we joined them. While eating, one of the group members named JJ, asked Doms to practice with her. She was practicing a song in the guitar. Doms was great in playing the guitar that’s why he was asked to play the guitar on our first day. He was great by the way.

The topic of last Friday’s bible sharing was about Praise. Aki was the one who did the talk for the night. She tackled the meaning of praise, how to praise, when to praise and who to praise. Since it was a bibile sharing, the main purpose of this topic is learning how to praise God.

It was really nice attending that bible study. I can communicate with others and listen to their experiences about the topic. I’ve learned that God needs to be praised. He created everything and He is the master of all beings. He had done a wonderful job in creating Earth and everything in it including me and the people I love that’s why He needs to be praised.

I always forget to praise God. Since I’m having a lot of problems lately, I always ask a lot of things from God that I tend to forget to realize that I need to praise Him also.

Literally, the act of praising is saying something positive about the person, object or idea. When I praise a person or an idea, it is because I like the idea or I like what a specific person did. Of course, praising needs to be sincere and from the heart. God needs to be praised as often as possible. When we see something beautiful, like a picture or a painting, we always praise the painter or the photographer. We often neglect the creator of that sight or that image which is God. That’s why since I attended the prayer meeting, I always keep a note to myself to praise God always when I see something nice or experience something beautiful.

I need to always remember what I’ve heard and learned in the bible sharing. This is the main reason why I will always post the topics that we attended in my blog site.

Book VS Movie

Yesterday, Doms and I watched the over anticipated movie adaptation of the Dan Brown’s novel “Angel and Demons”. After hearing mass, we went straight to VivoCity to watch the movie there. The 3:00 pm showing was full already but a pair of seats were still available for us in the 2nd row of the cinema.

From the start of the movie, I already came to the conclusion that the movie was different from the book. Vittoria was not the one who saw Leonardo Vetra dead in his study. It was Max Kohler, the director of CERN that saw him. Vittoria was somewhere when everything happened. Also, the hassasin in the movie wasn’t the one I was expecting. IT was described in the book that the Shaitan or Hassasin was a huge guy with no expression or what-so-ever. In the movie, the hassasin was wearing a suit! And he had glasses!

It was really frustrating. It wasn’t even mentioned that Leonardo Vetra and Vittoria were like father and daughter. Vittoria was supposed to be wearing shorts and sleeveless top. That’s why the Swiss Guards wasn’t taking her seriously because she wasn’t dressed accordingly.

Anyway, there are a lot of parts in the movie that wasn’t shown well. I like the book more. This movie is one of those movies that should be left alone as a book because making it into a movie will destroy the artistry of the story.

I rate this movie 2 stars out of 5

Toyota Event in Malaysia

In my previous blog posts, I’ve mentioned that Doms work is really a “good” work. His work as an Art Director for Big Fish Publishing became even better!

Doms is being sent to Malaysia for free to cover and take pictures of the Toyota Event there. It’s an all expense paid trip for 3 days and 2 nights in a resort in Malaysia. He will be coming with one of the writers in his company.

I’m really proud of my baby. He is really doing well in his work. Have a great time in Malaysia, mahal! Pasalubong nalang! =)
