Drafting My Happiness Commandments

Happiness is such a broad term to explain. If you ask me, happiness means fulfilling my life long dreams. But happiness has a lot of definition and only you can choose which definition suits you.

I came across The Happiness Project website and it gave me an idea to create my own happiness commandments. I’ve been through a lot lately and I need something to make me think and realize what I need to do correctly.

This is still an on-going blog post because I know I haven’t completed my list yet. So here it is, my happiness commandments…

  1. Be kind in words and actions.
  2. Stay calm.
  3. Think before acting and speaking.
  4. Reminisce on the past but do not relive it again.
  5. Stop over-thinking and  over-planning.
  6. Be healthy.
  7. Always remember that there is karma.
  8. Stop searching about illnesses to complicate things more.
  9. Pray.
  10. Take time to admire the beauty of everything.
  11. Make a decision and stick to it until the end.
  12. Love is and will only be the answer.

I’m not sure if this will be my final list of happiness commandments. I may add more. I may remove some. But as of the moment, this is what I think will define the new me. I will tell others to create their own happiness commandments as well. It will definitely be different from my commandments but I or we can still learn from it.

Happiness Commandment 1: Be Kind in Words and Actions

My mom read to me a quote she read somewhere that struck me. It goes something like “In marriage, use kind words to one another.”

This really made me realize that I’ve been very mean lately. I’m very open on how to express my feelings by talking and by saying bad words right away without thinking how it will affect the person that I’m referring to. So, for my first happiness commandment, I will make sure that every word that will come out of my mouth are words of kindness and compassion.

I will try my very best to avoid harsh remarks and sarcastic comments.

Mom and Dad in SG, Again

My parents spent their CNY here in SG. Well, there were supposed to go here last November but my Lola died and thus pushing their trip to this year.

We didn’t go to new places so much because my parents have been here in SG many times already. So, they just enjoyed the food and the festive season.

CNY Dinner @ Seafood People

We really love Seafood People! So, for our Chinese New Year Dinner, we decided to eat there. Good thing the location of this great eating place is just a walking distance away from us.

We ordered our favorite Prawn Paste Chicken, Seafood Fried Rice and Seafood Hor Fun.

20120127-094814.jpgAs always, serving the food will take about a 30-minute wait. But it was all worth it! We loved our CNY dinner and we will definitely go back here again.

Our Square Buns waited for us for our dessert.

I can’t remember how many CNY’s Doms and I celebrated here in SG. All I know is that I enjoy CNY here and I’m we’ll experience more in the future.

The Help Movie, Enlightening and Inspiring

I wasn’t feeling very well last night. I was in a bad mood for reasons I cannot disclose here in my blog. I was shouting because I don’t feel good and I was mad at Doms for the slightest reason.

So, to keep my mind out of the mess I was in, I decided to watch a downloaded movie.

The movie, “The Help”  was the first title that I saw from the list. I remember telling Doms to download this movie with no intentions whatsoever to watch it. But I was mad last night and I want a distraction. This was my chosen distraction. Continue reading
